Everything you need to know about renting a car in Syros, so you can enjoy a smooth, transparent, and completely stress-free car rental experience from start to finish.
What documents do I need to provide?
- A driver’s license issued at least one year ago
- Passport or ID card
- A credit or debit card in the main driver’s name is required for the security deposit, regardless of whether the rental fee is paid in cash
What are the age requirements for renting a vehicle?
Drivers must be between 23 and 73 years old and hold a valid driving licence. If the driver does not meet the standard age requirements, an additional age-related insurance surcharge may apply. For more information, please refer to the Extras section.
What insurance coverage is included with the car rental?
Basic insurance coverage, including Third-Party Liability (TPL), is included with all rentals. For greater peace of mind, you may choose optional protection packages that reduce or eliminate your financial liability, only in the event of an accident involving another vehicle. Additional coverage options are available when booking online or upon vehicle collection.
Can additional drivers be added to the rental agreement?
Yes. Additional drivers can usually be added for an extra fee. They must present:
- A valid driver’s licence
- Passport or ID card
Can I take the rental car on a ferry?
No. Transporting or driving the vehicle off the island by ferry or any other means is strictly prohibited.
What is our fuel policy?
Our fuel policy is “Same to Same”. The renter must return the vehicle with the same amount of fuel it had at the time of collection. If the vehicle is returned with less fuel, the customer will be charged for the difference. No refund will be provided if the vehicle is returned with more fuel than originally supplied.

We hired a Jeep Renegade for 5 days. The car was almost brand new, was well maintained and ideal for our stay on Syros. There are good roads on the island, but also some rough and winding roads that the car handled well.
Check out and check in was dealt with efficiently and in a friendly way. The condition of the vehicle was recorded effectively and when we returned it, checking the car was done in a very pleasant way by multiple members of the team. We really felt that the staff cared about our experience. They even had a little space to hold onto our bags safely until our ferry departure.
